The whole house and everything in it shook violently. Mr Drapier himself was paralysed with fear, but his terrible sensation and experience lasted only a second or two, as everything was quite normal again, within that time.
After this terrible experience, Mr Drapier, although a Protestant then, asked the Parish Priest of Ballinahinch to say Mass in the house. He agreed to do so, and to banish the dog from the house, but said that it would continue to give trouble on the farm.
The dog was seen several times afterwards on the banks of the Mulcair river which flowed through Mr Drapier's land. Tradition says that there were three men drowned in the river, since that mysterious dog was first seen there.- Bailitheoir
