    it ran across north of Rosaguile and then followed the course of the Donnane river round by Foilduff to Killeen.
    Kilcomenty embraced that territory included by a line drawn from the mouth of the Coole river along the Shannon back to Parteen, from there by the boundary of Co. Tipperary to Annaholty and Cragg, thence due South around the bogland to Barna. From Barna its line of demarcation runs North again by the Western extremes of Kilvellane and Kilnerath into the present village of Ballynahinch thence in a narrow strip back to Creggagh and North again to Kilmastulla Bridge and Cool River (leaving Lacken in the parish of Kilmastulla tho' now in Newport.
    The same parishes are again mentioned in the account of the Papal Visitation of Richard O'Hedian, Archbishop of Cashel, in 1437. They probably existed as separate communities with their own churches long before. It is certain that the Church or parish of Kilcomnathy existed for centuries before.
    About that time much of the Church's property had fallen into the hands of local chiefs and lords, owing to the custom of establishing Erenachs, or trustees, from amongst the laity. Archbishop O'Hedian visited all this archdiocese and restored the property of the
