- Ed. Griffin, Ballinulty, Cullen says :-
Sarsfield and his men were through Cullen and turned the shoes of their horses backwards in order to deceive pursuers.
One of the advance guard killed another because he wished to betray Sarsfield. Like the previous storyteller he says the two men were also cousins but that their names were O'Dwyer.
He quoted this variation of a verse of Ballyneety's Walls:-
"Sarsfield is the password and Sarsfield is the man
And "here we are" our general cried as around them we ran
They placed their small guns in the front
Their long pikes in the rear
Their cannons in the centre boys
And blew them in the air". Note Ml. Neligan says also that some say the password was obtained from the lady near where the quarry is situated i.e. at other end of village (see map).- Faisnéiseoir
