- Shops were fairly common in olden times but they were not as common as they are now.
There are four shops now for the one that was long ago. People had not to go to the towns to make purchases. Buying took place after Mass and it is practiced still.
The things bought after Mass are bread, tea, sugar, candles, soap, matches cigarettes tobacco and papers.
Money was not always given for goods. Butter, eggs, and potatoes were given instead.
There is a man named Jack Moloy and he is called "deuce" because when he is going to gamble he says I'll back the "deuce."
He goes about with a basket on his own selling pins and brooches small pictures and small things like that.- Bailitheoir
