    He was then married secondly, and his wife was very unkind to the child.
    One evening they were at their tea, and the child was crying in the cradle. The woman got up and beat the baby. The man got up and said "you are very cross. Next moment the real mother of the child walked in the door, and lifted the child up in her arms, and took off its clothes. then she got a bunch of nettles, and threw them at the step-mother, and struck her on the face, and walked out the door with the child.
    From that day onwards the woman pined away and in six weeks she died.
