“My grandfather told me about the treasure in Tuitestown Lake.”
(ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)his fortune. He came one day to Ballinea and stayed the night with a family named Serry who lived near the lake. He told them of his dream and that he intended to look for the treasure the following day. That night while he was in bed the Serrys went to see if they could get the fortune. When they went to the shore of the lake, they found a chain which was attached to a chest of gold. They pulled the chain very hard but with all the pulling it broke away from the chest. Next morning the Roscommon man came along and found the broken chain and he knew they had tried to get the gold. He told them they had no right to go near it as it was intended for him. In the end nobody got the gold and it lies in the bottom of the lake to this day.- Bailitheoir
