Moate. - Within a short distance of my house there is a well called "Tobar Amhaill". It is supposed that St. Aved visited this well. People go there on Good Friday, especially people inclined to have tender eyes. The custom is to say some special prayers and leave some little donation on a tree that is quite near.
This well is also visited by people who have warts. The custom is to count the warts and leave something for every wart. It has been said that anyone who takes the articles that are left they too will be afflicted with the(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
