  1. N.B. The following song was composed by Patrick Dillon, Coolevin, an uncle of the present man who lives there. It was made in the years of the Famine.

    (I)
Fare you well sweet Noughal Town, and the country up and down,
Where in boyhoods happy hour I have strayed,
With my comrades tried and true, still no care my bosom knew

Save then all the tender love my heart had made (?)

    (Chorus)
"Boys fill your glasses overflowing, and let the toast of Liberty go round,
May the daisied hills be seen with their shamrocks ever green
And Freedom smile on Erin all around."

    (II)
Full eighteen years I spent with my parents quite content (?)

Till the nineteenth year was shining on my brow,
How I felt within my breast how poor Erin was oppressed
And to leave her shores I quickly made a vow.

    (Chorus etc.)
