- (continued from previous page)Farrell in Carrowstrawley he takes the wool of the sheep from his neighbours and he sends it to Athlone and gets it manufactured and he then gives it to the owners. They give him money for getting it manufactured and they bring it to the tailor to get clothes made out of it. Tweed and serge are used most.
The tailors use a foot machine, a scissors, a chalk for marking, a thimble with no bottom in it and a big iron called the "Goose" for pressing the suits when finished and he sits on the table with his legs crossed. Cotton and flannelette is used for shirts.
A great lot of people knit socks and jumpers and stockings nowadays. Thread is not spun nowadays. There is one spinning wheel in this district it is Mr Ned Farrell, Tullyvrane, Lanesboro'. It is a very old one. It belonged to his Grandmother(continues on next page)- Collector
