- About fifty years ago there lived in Upper Gaigue a man called Paura Larkin and he was called Paura Bawn. Rogers lives in the house now. Paura had a goose sitting on eggs under the dresser and a neighbour came into the house one night on a cayley. Paura went to see how the goose was getting on and he was agreeably surprised to find a Gosling out of its sheel. "You are welcome out" says he to the gosling. The neighbour said to himself. "Your welcome out as Paura Bawn said to the gosling" At a fair in Galway soon after the people were all saying "Your welcome out as Paura Bawn said to the Gosling".
The saying is used when someone comes unexpectedly or when a person meets one that has been confined to the house for a long time. Sometimes when a person has delayed in paying a promised visit he is met with the ironical statement "Your welcome out as Paura Bawn said to the Gosling.- Bailitheoir
