- The old people say that it is lucky to set potatoes the day before Saint "Patricks Day" because they always have a splendid crop. If you set them on that day it is lucky to take them out on the 12th of July. It is unlucky to throw out anything or bring in milk or water on "May Day". It is an old saying that "Saturday's beginning makes a bad end" that is if you begin anything on Saturday it will end quickly.
Another saying is, "Monday for health, Tuesday for wealth, Wednesday the best day of all, Thursday for loses, Friday for Crosses, and Saturday the worst day of all". Therefore it is Friday that is the Day of the Cross because it is said that on that Day the "True Cross" was found.
They days for cures are Monday's and Thursday's and you have to have the cure on before Sunset. It is also said that it is not right to go to live in a new house on Saturday for it will not exist long. It is unlucky to clean out an out house after sunset.(continues on next page)- Collector
