broken by visitors breaking off pieces for relics, the
late R.A. Plunkett P.P. had them re-interred in the
Southern end of the graveyard close to the tower. A
strange coincidence that those sacred relics which
survived down through the ages were laid to
rest by a kinsman a blood relation of Blessed
Oliver Plunkett the Irish Martyr of Tyburn England.
Members of the O'Farrells chieftains of Annally are
buried close to the entrance to the tower
on the North side. The O'Reilly Coat of Arms is
engraved on a tomb in the South side of the
graveyard. A few Celtic crosses have been
recovered from among the debris. The following
are some of the striking inscriptions on headstones
    at Columcille graveyard.
Elegy written by deceased Francis Carey, Smear, a School Teacher.

    From dust we come,
    To dust we run.
Life here is but a span.
If compared it be, to eternity.
and thus the fate of man
All earthly pride, then lay aside,
and lay good works in store.
    For just as I
    So much you die
and breathe on earth no more.
Elegy written by deceased Thomas Campbell, Smeare
