- Forth and Bargy are generally known as the English Baronies as a large colony of the Anglo Norman invaders settled there and preserved their ancient dialect, manners and customs.Cu Corb, King of Lenister gave a number of territories to Eochaid Fionn Fothard - brother of Conn-Cead-Cathach- King of Irleand, for assisting him in expelling the Munster men from Leinster, in the 2nd Century; one of these was Fathartha of Carne - now known as the Barony of Forth. The present Irish Baronies represent the old tribal districts. Bargy was formerly held by the famous tribe of Ui Bairrche: they also settled in Rosbercon at the Kilkenny side of the bridge of New Ross.The market town of these Baronies is Wexford. In pre-historic times the harbour of Wexford was known as "Pari Cael Rinda" ( the post of the narrow opening). In the reign of Cathair Mór (120-3) and a certain Garmon Garbh stole the queen's diadem from the royal palace of Tara: he was pursued and killed at Cael Rinda and immediately the river Slaney burst its banks and(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
