- In 1802 at the Michaelmas sessions John Lennon was summoned to court for saying a man stole a tinker's donkey. The constable was of Northern descent and possessed a broad brogue. He stated that the offenders name was John Linen whereupon he was immediately corrected by the offender saying "I'm neither linen nor flannel but honest John Lennon".
Having found him guilty the court was about to adjourn when the offender asked the justice if there was existed a law for thinking. The justice said no.- Bailitheoir
