The headstone was used for a hearthstone in a house near the spot until lately, when it was taken up and placed in the graveyard to which everyone believed it belonged. The inscription on the headstone was :
"Erected by Martin Keily

The stone is a flat square stone. There are the ruins of an old church in Ballybrennan, and there is a great deal of ivy growing on it. It is said that a bell used to be heard ringing in it every night at 12, o.clock.There was a certain man buried in this graveyard one time and from the time this man was buried in it it is said that the bell stopped ringing. It was believed even before this man died that he was a bad wicked man.The house where this man lived at Ballybrennan, Bree, Co. Wexford is still to be seen. It is occupied by a man named Deacon.
