OffalyThe names of the local tailors are Quigly, Nicholson, Quin and Smith of Clara; Guinin of Ballycumber and Spollen of Rahan.
They all work in their homes.
They stock stuff. It was spun and woven locally in old times but not now. There are some skirts made at hom. Socks are knitted by people for example Mrs Mac dermot knitts socks for us. We have got spinning wheel at home, but I never saw it working.
Men used to wear special black clothes at a death or as feast day or a wedding. Wool used to be spun in olden times, but not now- Collector
