   We had Barney Stones both nice and fine
   he sang the girl i left behind
   It brought old memories to his mind
   Which he often does recall
   Then Paddy nolen very shy, I think between both
   you nad I, He only came there for to spy
   That night at Handy's Ball

   But the dance broke up and in the breeze
   The boys and girls began to squeeze
   when someone shouted that's the cheese
   though I could scarcely crawl
   I staggered home and down did lie
   to have a sleep I then did try
   And I swore until the day I'll die
   I'd never go to ball
