That night Pakie Byrne was brought from Ballavara to Graiguenamanagh in a hearse, and anyone who followed the funeral had a lighting candle. It is said that from the time the candles were lit in Ballavara, until they came to Graiguenamanagh they never went out. It is strange to say, that the grass never grew where Pakie Byrne was wounded.
