When they were in the byre and had started milking, they heard a lot of voices, and noise, it sounded as if it was a great host of people marching, and arguing they were marching round the byre for a while, then they turned their faces for Lower Annagh.
One night two brothers went down to Kilgarrow, one had an ass, and the other had to see some cattle. The boy with the ass, was waiting until the other boy would come back. Suddenly he heard a noise in the byre McGowan was, when he heard the noise. The noise was like a snore, the ass cocked his ears as if he saw something at the byre. Then he made one jump, and loosened the boy's grip, and he went away as fast as he could. The boy got frightened and he let a shout that was not long bringing the other brother.
One night three boys were coming home from card playing. It was very late, and when they were passing a dark lone some part of the road, they met a man, who after they were a while talkng, told them that he was coming from card playing also, and they agreed to some more.
Some of the boys had a pack of cards and they started playing along the road. After a while a card fell near the strange man's foot, and one of the boys stooped to lift it, and what did he see? but the devil's foot. Then he fainted, and his companions tried to help him out but the man disappeared at once.
