- There are five finger stones on Shantemon mountain. They represent four fingers and a tumb. It is supposed that Fin Mac Cumhall threw them from Slieve Glak mountain to Shantemon. It is supposed that it is a monument over some hero. I never heard who was buried there. There is a round stone on Shantemon.
There is the mark of a foals foot or a bulls foot in it. Castletara parish is derived from the Irish phrase Cos an tSearraigh.- Collector
