- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)the potato stalks comes over the ground they are moulded. They are sprayed then in the month of July to keep away the blight. A barrel full of clean water is got. Bluestone is steeped in it over night. Washing soda is melted in hot water and mixed with the bluestone. It is then put in the sprayer. The sprayer is strapped on the person's back and is worked by an iron handle. The person spraying walks up and down the furrows and sprays each ridge separately. The spraying is done again in the month of August. My father picks the potatoes from the earth. The potatoes are dug with a spade first. Then they are picked. The large ones are picked out and put in a heap and the small ones are brought home for the pigs. The large ones are left in the potato field and are covered with clay and straw. Potato bread is made from potatoes. The potatoes are peeled first then bruised up. Flour and salt are mixed up through them. They are shaped then into small squares and baked. Boxty bread is also made from potatoes. The raw potatoes are grated. They are then put in a cloth and wrung. Then they are mixed with some boiled potatoes, flour, salt and carraway seed.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
