Ar an leathanach seo

    were long ago. Money is given as dowry to the bride and sometimes goods are given by the parents of the bride too. If the man who is getting married has a sister or bother living with him in his house he gives her or him the money which he got from his wife to get married.
    People get married in the Church now but about ninty years ago they got married in the houses. Long ago when people got married, the custom was to have a wedding breakfast and a marriage ceremony. After that there was a feasting and entertainment till dinner time. Nowadays they get married early in the morning in the Church and go for a drive in a car to some near town. The bride is not supposed to stay in her own house that night or is not supposed to go back to her house for a month after the wedding.
    When night comes the straw boys visit
