The fern when boiled cures scour in calves. The juice of nettles is good for children suffering from measles. Ivy boiled is good as a sub for cows with a start. Fir tree leaves cut up and given to horses will rout works. Some wild flowers get their name from their colour and shape, viz the butter cup. Adam and Eve from the shape of its root fairy finger etc.
Dandelion is found in good land so are thistles and ragwort, the ass will keep down the thistle and the sheep ragwort.
The big daisies are found in poor land.
The heather long ago was used for dyeing purposes. Some beautiful colours were extracted from it.
