Near the site of new cottages being erected now in Derrylurgan there are some old houses which at one time was a factory where every sort of trade was carried on, but some of the houses are in ruins.
At the top of Dublin Street there is a large house called "The Old Convent" it was built in 1879 and was occupied by the Poor Clare Sisters until 1885 In 1885 a man called, Cusack a tailor, bought it and converted it into a sort of a factory.
