Long ago people had only three meals a day which consisted of porridge for breakfast, potatoes for dinner and supper. The people had to work a couple of hours before they got anything to eat. They did not eat late at night their last meal was at six o'clock.
On a feast day the rich man killed a sheep and invited his best friends to feast on it. Once a year the people had tea and that was on Christmas Day or Easter Sunday. The poorer class had no table. The potatoes were boiled in a pot, the water was drained off them, then the potatoes were put into a basket made of sallies.
