- (continued from previous page)corn for a certain farmer. The corn was brought into the barn, and a flail placed on top of it, and in the morning the threshing was completed. This went on for a number of years, until one morning the little man was found dead under the straw.
Again, in olden times, the woman spun all the wool they required in their own homes. A little lady came frequently and spun all the wool that was left, when the women were retiring. On the occasion they left cap and cape for the little person on the spinning wheel. On seeing these she was heard to sing "Ocho" - "A cap and a hood and poor old Brownie will ne'er do good."
Once upon a time they visited a cabin where there was an unfortunate man who had to go about on crutches. The came to the window and asked him to light a pipe for them. He did so, and they then persuaded him to come outside, and having put him on horseback brought him miles and miles from his own home. They were unable to return before twelve o'clock, so he was obliged to walk him, which he did without the slightest difficulty. However, on arriving(continues on next page)- Collector
