    "Poteen"
    From top to head
    They searched the ebd,
    Blanket, sheet and tick.
    And the wife undressed,
    Must leave her bed,
    For Jemmie of Grousehall.
Many years ago poteen was made in this district, and the police had been making a search for those suspected of dong so, and the above song was made.
Jemmie was the Sergeant stationed in Grousehall Barracks at that time and these barracks are about 3 miles from Bailieboro'
    The Servant.
Rise up, rise up, loyal Sweeney,
And give the horse some hay,
For I fear you will ne'er be able
To plough the rocks of Bawn.
Sweeney was a very good servant. This man he was with was a very poor type of farmer. Wooden ploughs were used in those days and therefore ploughing was very laborious work. The above verse was the manner in which the farmer addressed his servant in the morning.
