In the good old times half a century ago in Kiltimagh parish now transformed by time that levels everything and that reveals secrets that we believed could never be unearthed or brought before the light and by the beneficial activities of a great mind and spiritual guide- the late venerated pastor of this parish V. Rev. Denis O'Hara P.P.
    Great changes, too numerous to include in this contribution, have taken place in this parish during that short span. In former days we had seven blacksmiths forges and two nail-makers forges for making nails of various sizes used for timber work and for men's and women's boots. The size of the timber nails that is those for nailing timber boards were designated by the names four penny, six penny, eight penny and ten penny, the latter being the largest size nails and the nails made for boots were designated men's sole nails and women's sole nails
