    Patrick Joyce were two noted walkers. Austin Gill walked to Castlebar and back again in two hours and a half. Patrick Joyce Kinnock walked to Dublin and back in three days but he travelled day and night. John O Donnel from Glosh was a very noted jumper. He jumped five feet eleven at sports in Glosh. Patrick Gill from Westport was competing with him but he could not jump as high. Five feet eleven was the jump. Austin O Malley upper Kilsallagh was a very strong man. He went in to Westport with five hundred of potatoes on his horse. A Civic Guard said he would have him arrested for cruelty to the horse. Austin said what a man can carry a horse is well able to carry it. Let me see you said the Guard. Austin took it off the horses back and put it on his back and carried it as far as the weighing machine, Patrick Foy Kilsallagh was a very noted
