    How bitter I said is his patriots need

    For in him the heart of a woman combined
    With a heroic life and a governing mind
    A martyr for Ireland his grave had no stone
    His name seldom named and his country unknown.

    I a woke from my dream by the voices and treads
    Of a band that came home to the grave of the dead
    They carried no corps and they carried no stone
