    Bhíodh saol an-chruaidh ag na daoine fadó. 'Siad na mná a dhein an obair go léir a dhéanamh sa bhfeirm. Caithidís aiteann a ghearradh le oráin agus é a bhriseadh cun é a thabhairt dos na ba gach aon oíche.
    Dá mbeadh a fhios acu go bhfaighidís cáirt bainne nuair a thiocfaidís abhaile déanfaidís a dá oiread oibre. Bhíodh na fearaibh ag obair timpeall an tigh sa mbaile.
