    Bhí fear agus bean agus cailín ag dul go dtí an baile mór. Bhí siad fiche míle ó bhaile.
    Chonaic an cailín sagart ag teacht ach ní fhacha an fear ná bean é. Do chuir an sagart ceist uirri agus dúirt sé "Cá bhfuil tú ag dul?". "Tá mé ag dul go dtí an baile is giorra dom".
    "Tá go maith" arsa sé. "Dein teachtaireacht dom". Do thóg sé páipéar agus dubh dearg agus peann. Scríobh sé rud éigin air agus dúirt sé tabhair é seo go dtí an sagart. Thug sí é agus dúirt an sagart gur sagart a fuair bás obann agus go raibh sé ina chónaí ins an baile seo.
    Sé an rud a bhí scríobhtha air ná níor chuimhnigh mé ar Aifreann do rá do dhuine bocht a bhí cráidhte. Abair an Aifreann seo don duine seo.
