    Blessing may not be given without special permission. Marriages mostly take place during Shrove. Old people say that the month of May is the unluckiest month to be married in. I do not know why it is the unluckiest month. There is an old rhyme about marriages here it is.

    Tuesday for wealth
    Wednesday the best day of all
    Thursday for losses
    Friday for crosses
    Saturday no day at all
    There are no matched made in this district now a days but long ago there were matched made. The people give presents to the people who are married. In years gone by marriages used to take place in the houses. The two who are married go on their honeymoon to Mt. Melleray and sometimes to Dublin. The night after the marriage the married couple give and all night dance.
