- A cure for the mumps is to put a pair of donkey’s whiskers on the affected person and lead him to a well or river. He is then to be led round the well three times or in the case of a river, he is to walk round in the water three times and then given a drink.
A cure for the warts is to steal a piece of meat or bacon and rub it on the warts. The meat is then to be buried and as it rots the warts will disappear.
Another cure for warts is to wash them with water taken from a hole in a rock.- Collector
