  1. Candlemas Day is the first day of February.
    There is a little rhyme about it
    "On Candlemas day
    throw a candle away"
    That means that you can do with a candle less in the evenings for the days are getting longer. Another rhyme is!
    "If Candlemas Day is calm and clear
    The half of the winter's to come that year"
    Saint Patrick's Day is on the seventeenth of March. People wear shamrocks.
    On Easter Sunday we have a feast of eggs.
    On Shrove Tuesday we have a feast of pancakes.
    Saint (Sain) Swithens Day is on the fifteenth of July.
    There is a saying!
