The two last days of February and the first day of March are the days that skin "Brannie". These are called the borrowing days and anything borrowed on these days is not supposed to be repayed.
On Hallowe'en night in former times the old people used to rub salt and oatmeal on their heads to keep the fairies from taking them away.
On May eve night people put yarrow under their pillow. They then dream on it to find out their future husband or wife. Bonefires are burned on May Eve night.
