    There are many old customs associated with Christmas Day and the other holidays.

    Monday, and it is unlucky to pay out money on that day.
    St. Bridget's day or Candlemas there is a cross made with straw and placed over the door, on that day also the priest blesses candles to be kept in the house during the year.
    St. Patrick's Day is another great national holiday when every Irish man and woman wear the shamrock.
    May is a month of superstitions. It is unlucky to get married in May, and the children dress the May tree.
    November Eve is a great eve for feasting, nuts, and cakes, and all sorts of games.
    St. Stephen's Day is an enjoyable day for the wren boys
