    there escaped the dire scourge.
    All the potatoes at that time were sown in ridges and since then they are sown broadcast, that is put into the scribe and closed in with the next scribe.
    Later on drills came into general use.
    In the summer of '48 the government gave relief works making what is call Board of Work roads or drainage schemes which were never finished.
    They also gave Indian Meal and when little boys saw it they cut the buttons out of their little pants to buy a little of the yellow meal as they called it.
    People died on the road-side making for the Workhouses.
    One old man was found in the centre of a garden with a few pgiollanr in his bag
