  1. Near this place is a townland called Tullintaggart or the "Wild hill of the Priest. In the Penal times the people attended Mass there. The rock at which the Mass was said is in an ault, where there was little danger of them being found out. There is to be seen there still, the hollow stone for the Holy Water.
    Near here too, but on the road leading to Manorhamilton, is a large rock, called Marie's Rock. One stormy night a travelling woman took shelter under this rock. In the morning she was found dead, with her pipe in her mouth. Ever since, the rock is called Marie's Rock.
    Quite near to this rock, in the townland of Straduffy is another Mass Rock.
    There is a hollow which runs from the Corranmore road, up to the foot of (the) Thur mountain. It gets the name Ault-na-geer or the ault of the sheep. Corranmore means the Big Heap.
