    marble slab on the wall of the church near the high altar marks the spot where his grave was made. The slab bears the simple inscription:
    Pray for the soul of Very Revd. John Canon Conefrey, P.P Gortletteragh, who died on the 3rd Sept. 1901 - aged 76 years. May his soul rest in peace.
    The Conefreys are people of the past as well as the present.
