Mrs Bohan of Cattan Cross Gortletteragh Parish Anaghmore post office Mohill is not long dead...

Mrs Bohan of Cattan Cross Gortletteragh Parish Anaghmore post office Mohill is not long dead. This woman was of a strong energetic nature. One morning she set for the fair of Longford with a young calf on her neck. She carried the calf on the back of her neck with the front feet of the calf over her right shoulder and held in her right hand. She did likewise with the hind legs over her left shoulder. She sold the calf for 6 shillings and she got a lift home on a wheel barrow from Thomas Lee of Cattan who was wheeling home a sack of meal. The distance from Cattan to Longford is 14 statute miles.
