  1. (continued from previous page)
The boy scolded the high king for trying to get him eaten by the giant, but said that on his travells he had learned how to cure the kings daughter. The king was delighted at hearing this and promised him seven times the boys weight in gold and jewels if he would cure his daughter. The boy got the gold and jewels first and then told the king about removing the thorn. When this was done the girl became as well as ever. So the boy came home to the king having finished the last and most difficult of his tasks. When the king saw the boy with all the gold and jewels he asked him where he got them and the boy said that he got them in the doctors house on the island in the lake. Now the king was very greedy so he rushed off to the island house but if he did the giant caught him and devoured him. The boy was married to the kings daughter and they lived happily ever after.
