    it was ripe so we cut and stocked it. And this is how we cut it. I went to the east, and my mother to the west, and my grandmother to the south and my grandfather to the north. When I was cutting in the east I saw a hare so I flung my hook at it and it ran off to my mother in the west and as it ran it it cut down all the corn as the hook was stuck in it. When it reached my mother in the west she flung her hook at it and turned it to my grandmother in the south and as it ran it cut all the corn to the south. When my grandmother in the south saw it she flung her hook at it and turned it to my grandfather in the north and in this way the hare cut all Ireland in a day. We then gathered up the corn and bound and stocked it and left it there. Next day when we went out to draw it in there wasn't a grain of it left. I listened and heard men "slashing" up in the sky so I went home and got two of the longest hairs out of my grandfather's whiskers and made a ladder and went up into the sky. When I reached the sky I saw a lot of little men, and each man "slashing" a sheaf of my oats on a little barrel. I threw down all my oats but
