    Our country lost a soldier,
    And the poor man lost a
    friend;
    Oppression's grasp he loosened,
    And he made the tyrant
    bend.
    Until death's cruel mandate
    Obliged him to obey,
    And caused him to surrender
    On the 25th of May.

    The loss of valiant Darcy
    We will ever bear in mind;
    He was a man of action,
    And in manner but a child.
    By all he was respected,
    His name shall be inserted
