  1. There are certain customs associated with this day in this district. Early in the morning, the grown boys and young men assemble and disguise themselves in coloured garments. Then they go in procession from house to house with decorated bushes and singing the wren's song:-
    The wren, the wren,
    The king of all birds
    St. Stephen's Day
    It was caught in the furze
    Although he is little
    His family is great
    Come down here, our landlady
    And give us a treat
    If the treat be of the best
    I hope, in heaven, you soul will rest
