  1. Now December once more flings its shadows before
And old Father Christmas is due on the floor
Of cabin and mansion a light through the land
That our forefathers fought for with brave heart and hand
Movrone, what a great wealth of legend is told
Of the gay and the witty, the bright and the bold
Who flinging their banner abroad to the sky
For country and freedom went forth but to die
Of sweet Castlecors old romantic demense
A story of its chieftain enchained
A chieftain who ruled all the countryside round
Ere the trace of a Saxon or Dane could be found
But a foul wizard came and accursed be the shame
Soon the chief and his castle were nought but a name
For the wizard wove spells, 'neath the castle he sat
And he changed the brave chief to the guise of a cat
And alas for the chieftain a white one at that.
And his castle that recked not the winter's wild moan
Was changed to the shape of a grey lump of stone.
And his lady likewise, sure they say her blue eyes
Looked sweet on the wizard, but that I despise
And he and his lady immured in the hall
Of enchantment shall languish forever in thrall
Till some of their race would the dire danger face
