  1. Many landlords lived in this district at one time, some of them stern and more of them good-natured. A landlord's agent lived at - the great House at Mullucmarkey, owned now by Daniel J. O'Connor. The agent's name was Hurley and his landlord was Miss Thompson.
Pierce Quinn O'Mahoney was the landlord at Kilmurray, Cordal, and he was considered very stiff and was responsible for the eviction of D.J.Walsh, Kilmurry.
A landlord whose name was Arthur Herbert lived at Killeentiema: he was a magistrate and a bad man: One time he imposed a heavy fine on a man whose name was Sullivan, for coursing in the close-season. When Herbert was going home from town, one wet foggy evening in a back-to-back trap he was met at Lisheenbawn Cross, Castleisland by three men and was shot dead by them.
