surrounding district in past times. These baskets were made of twigs. The twigs grew wild but some people grew them in their own gardens. In the autumn these twigs were cut down and left under the sun for a time. When they were making the baskets they stood a number of twigs on the ground in the shape of the mouth of the basket and they worked more twigs in between these. They kept on at this until it was the required size. When they had this finished they closed it in the bottom. Baskets are still made at the present day but are not so numerous as in olden times.
