  1. "Riddles"
What is black and white and read all over:
    A newspaper.
As I went out on my grandfather's gap I met my uncle Davie. I knocked him down and sucked his blood and left him lying easy:
    A blackberry.
As round as an apple, as flat as a pan one side a woman, the other a man:
    A penny.
What is neither inside nor outside but is useful to the house:
    A window.
    What is the one-eyed servant:
    A needle.
What is it that goes round the house and round the house and sleeps in the corner at night:
    The twig.
