  1. There is a castle in Mount Brown in the parish of Aughagower in the County of Mayo. It was owned by a man named Denis Brown who lived there about one hundred years ago. He used to kill children without any reason. There are two trees where he hung two boys and the leaves never grew right again. A few women were going to town and it began to rain and they went up to the door under an eave which he had made. One of the women said if Brown was here we would not come here to shelter. She had it just said when they heard a great noise and they ran and there was not an egg in their baskets but was broken when they stopped running.
